El Paso-based apartment developer Hunt Cos. is planning a second large rental community in Richardson.

Hunt Cos. starting in 2016 built a 281-unit apartment project on U.S. Highway 75 called Mallory Eastside.

Now the developer is seeking approval from Richardson to build a second, 384-unit apartment project next door.

The developments will replace a low-rise office park located between U.S. 75 and Greenville Avenue, just south of Campbell Road.

BGO Architects designed the new Eastside phase two development, according to filings with the city.

The 4-story apartment buildings and parking garage will be located on an 8.48-acre site.

Richardson’s Telecom Corridor has been one of the Dallas-areas busiest apartment development markets with new projects by Irving-based JPI, Trammell Crow Residential and JLB Partners.

Hunt Cos. has built other North Texas apartments in Allen and Frisco.

Hunt Cos. apartment project is planned between U.S. 75 and Greenville Avenue.
